About Krittika

Krittika spans from 26°40′ Aries to 10°00′ Taurus and is ruled by the Sun. Its deity is Agni, the fire of the sacrifice, and its symbol is a razor or flame, both of which cut away what is not needed. The Krittikas are the Pleiades, the six mothers who nursed Kartikeya, the god of war.

Krittika is a nakshatra of purification and sharp clarity. It burns through confusion, cooks what is raw and protects what it nurtures. It is classed as mixed (mishra), suited to ordinary work and especially to rites involving fire. Its first pada falls in Aries; the other three in Taurus.

Padas and navamsa

Born under Krittika

People with the Moon in Krittika tend to be direct, discerning and principled, with a strong sense of dignity. They can be fiercely protective and are often good critics, cooks, teachers or leaders. They say what they mean, and their honesty can cut as well as clarify. Their first dasha is the Sun.
