About Rohini

Rohini lies from 10°00′ to 23°20′ Taurus, in the sign where the Moon is exalted, and is ruled by the Moon itself. Its deity is Prajapati, the creator, and its symbol is an ox-cart, carrying the harvest. The name means “the red one”, after Aldebaran, the bright reddish star at its heart. In the Puranas Rohini was the Moon's favourite among his 27 wives.

This is a nakshatra of fertility, beauty and abundance. Things planted under Rohini tend to grow. It is classed as fixed (dhruva), favouring beginnings meant to last: foundations, homes, sowing seeds. Krishna was born with the Moon in Rohini.
