About Dhanishta

Dhanishta spans from 23°20′ Capricorn to 6°40′ Aquarius and is ruled by Mars. Its deities are the eight Vasus, the gods of the elements and of abundance, and its symbol is the mridanga drum. The name means “the wealthiest”.

Dhanishta is a nakshatra of rhythm, music, prosperity and recognition. It keeps time, and it brings people together around the drum. It is classed as movable (chara), favouring travel and anything in motion. Two padas lie in Capricorn and two in Aquarius.
